Parx Casino is the top-grossing gaming facility in the state and owner and operator Greenwood Racing appears to have its sights set firmly on the emerging online gambling market in Pennsylvania.
In fact, Parx was actually the first of nine PA casino license holders to apply for a $10 million online gambling license to operate online slots, online table games, and online poker.
The majority of the other PA casino license holders waited until the final hours before the state’s July 16 deadline to apply for the license. However, Parx applied days earlier, making it clear it wanted in the online gambling business. Plus, because it didn’t wait to apply for $4 million individual licenses for just one or two of the three types of online gambling available, it’s clear Parx wants to operate all three.
The Parx online social casino
Parx and Greenwood Racing are not in the real-money online casino business just yet. However, Parx launched the Parx online social casino in March 2015. The site, which runs on a platform designed by UK online gambling software designer GAN, allows players to enjoy free slots and casino games. Plus, since GAN has announced it will partner with Parx on its real-money online casino offering, the current platforms gives players a fairly good idea of what the Parx online casino will ultimately look and feel like.
Players can also get a good idea of what a Parx online gambling site will be all about by checking out the Ocean Online Casino and Betfair online casino in New Jersey. Both also run on a GAN software platform. Ocean Resort Casino is too new have developed a reputation for anything. However, the Betfair NJ online casino has spent a few years developing a reputation as the NJ online casino operation with the most unique content.
The day of the state’s deadline for full-scale online gambling license applications, GAN issued a press release confirming Parx Casino’s intention to launch internet gaming online in Pennsylvania and identifying GAN as its software platform provider.
It said the ParxOnline.com social casino site the two had previously partnered on would remain in operation even after the launch of its real-money online gambling product.
Plus, it indicated the new online gambling site will be integrated into the existing Parx Casino on-property loyalty program. This is something that will offer patrons the seamless ability to earn and redeem rewards points both online and off.
Parx sports betting
Additionally, neither Parx nor other PA casinos have applied for a sports betting license with the state. However, GAN announced it would be providing the casino with a sports betting platform both for, online and on-property. GAN also inked a deal with sports betting software provider SBTech to integrate its software into the GAN platform earlier in 2018.
Parx online poker
What its online poker product will look like isn’t as easy to determine.
Parx Casino operates the biggest and highest-grossing poker room in PA. Plus, its Parx Big Stax poker tournament series, which runs five times annually, is the top local tournament series. It obviously will want to take that reputation as the state’s home for poker online as well.
However, GAN has no background in online poker software development. Parx could possibly bring on another partner for online poker software. GAN could now want in that side of the business.
Parx Casino and Racing
Parx Casino opened as Philadelphia Park Racetrack and Casino in 2009 on the site of the former Keystone Racetrack. In addition to thoroughbred racing at the 280,000 square foot Parx East facility, Parx features a 260,000 square foot casino. The casino boasts more than 3,300 slots, 130 live table games, and a 48-table poker room.
The facility is in Bensalem, just 20 minutes north of the center of Philadelphia.
